Connus pour leur saveur umami riche et leur texture charnue, les pleurotes roses sont très appréciés des cuisiniers amateurs et constituent une délicieuse alternative végétale à la viande.

Les pleurotes roses prospèrent dans des conditions chaudes et humides et sont parfaits pour la culture en extérieur à faible entretien. Une fois plantés, ils n'ont besoin que d'une humidité constante et d'un endroit ombragé pour s'épanouir. Avec un minimum d'effort, ils produisent souvent plusieurs poussées au cours de la saison.

Receiving & Storage

Remove starter from the shipping box as soon as possible. Then, unfold the top of the bag, making room for air space. It's also important to check and confirm that the filter patch is not obstructed. This will help the organism breathe and continue to thrive!

Plant & Grow starters should be used within 1 week of receipt. If you don't plan to use immediately, you can refrigerate your block for up to 6 months.

How to Grow

Oyster mushrooms are vigorous, fast-growing, and perfect for new outdoor cultivators. With their dramatic colored caps and savory flavor, they bring both beauty and bounty to shaded garden spaces.

How to Initiate Fruiting Outdoors

  • Choose a shaded location: Find a cool, humid spot like under trees, beside a fence, or in a sheltered garden bed.
  • Bury your block: Remove the plastic entirely from your block. Bury the block completely and cover with about 1" of soil or mulch.
  • Maintain consistent moisture: Mist the surrounding soil or mulch regularly (1–2x daily in dry weather) to prevent the block from drying out.

When to Plant

  • Most Oysters thrive in cooler temperatures (ideally 55–65°F), and Pink Oysters like it a little warmer (ideally 70-80°F ).

Special Considerations

  • Watch for rapid growth—oysters can mature quickly and drop spores if not harvested in time.
  • Consider placing straw or leaf mulch around (not on) the block to help regulate humidity without suffocating airflow.

Harvesting

  • Pick clusters when cap edges are still curled under for best texture, flavor, and shelf life.
  • Harvest young to reduce spore production and improve storage.
  • Use both hands or a clean knife to gently remove entire clusters without damaging the substrate.

With minimal effort, oysters will often produce multiple flushes—making them one of the most rewarding mushrooms to grow in the garden.

For the best quality mushrooms, try to adhere to these general temperature and fruiting time guidelines.

No complicated setup, just a simple method designed for outdoor gardens.

Pick your spot

Choose a shaded area with soil or mulch. Dig a hole about the size of the starter block, deep enough so it can be fully covered once placed. A cool, protected spot will give you the best results.

Plant the block

Remove the mushroom starter from its bag and place it in the hole. Fill in the sides with soil so there are no gaps, then cover the top with a couple inches of wood chips to help retain moisture.

Watch it grow

Water after planting and keep it lightly watered, especially on dry days. In as little as 1 to 2 weeks, mushrooms begin to appear. Harvest fresh clusters right from your garden.

Easiest to grow and very tasty

Growing in SE Wisconsin in 2026, planted in spring in raised beds between peppers, basil and loofah. The pink oysters has been the easiest and most productive of the four varieties we planted. Just started pinning flush #4, each flush has yielded around 1/2 lb of beautiful pink mushrooms. Probably would have had this flush a week ago but a bunny jumped into the bed one night and dug up some early pins that were still under the soil…
Absolutely fantastic roasted with thyme and olive oil, tastes like bacon, mildly smoky flavor. Delicious and easy!

Weeks of flushes!

Simple to plant, simple to maintain, and delicious. Been getting decent sized flushes for a few weeks and then a nice big one after heavy rainfall the other day. Definitely would buy again. I planted them in my natural soil under a garden shade cover and I water the bed whenever I water the rest of my garden. It was a little chilly when I first planted the blocks so I put a little straw around them as well and that seemed to protect them through our last few cold spring nights.

Delicious and really easy to grow!

I highly recommend using the Plant and Grow block. I buried mine in a back corner of a 2' X 5' raised garden bed behind tomato plants, pea plants, herbs, and flowers. Right at two weeks after planting, I harvested my first flush (about 3 pounds!) and cooked them. They were absolutely delicious!

Two weeks later, my second flush is starting to appear. I chose the Pink Oyster mushrooms as I live in growing zone 8b and we get lots of heat, rain, and humidity in the spring and summer. I'm planning to include mushrooms in my garden from now on, and may try a different variety in the Fall when it's cooler.

The only thing that could make the Plant and Grow block any better is if it was divided into 3 smaller pieces and I could succession plant them in 2 week intervals to have a pound of fresh mushrooms at a time all summer long, because eating 3 pounds of mushrooms at once is a lot!
