Log Inoculation Sealing Wax
|Features||Food grade; low melting point|
This clear food-grade paraffin wax is ideal for sealing holes in inoculated logs. One pound of wax is enough to seal about 10 logs with some variability, depending on the size of the logs and whether you choose to seal the ends. (Sealing the holes is critical to success because it protects the spawn from drying out and from contamination.)
If inoculating logs in fall and applying wax in temps below 50 degrees F, daubers and wax will harden quickly. Therefore, we recommend a plugged-in crock pot (vs. a pot taken from the stove) for dipping.
Please note that 50 lb. bags of wax are not eligible for free shipping.

Good stuff - Buy more than one
It's wax. It melts easily in a crock pot, and does it's intended job. A single packet is not enough to cover inoculation for an entire bag of sawdust spawn however, so I'd recommend buying a couple of these.
I was trying to find log plug sealing wax on amazon, and kind of gave up, bc the descriptions i found were vague, and it wasn't clear to me if the wax was food grade, and if it was solid blocks or pelleted wax. So i decided to buy from North Spore, and I'm so happy w my purchase!! Its high quality, melts like a dream, and is easy to work with! This company's customer service is top notch! Will definitely continue to purchase from this company!!!
