Log Inoculation Sealing Wax
Features | Food grade; low melting point |
This clear food-grade paraffin wax is ideal for sealing holes in inoculated logs. One pound of wax is enough to seal about 10 logs with some variability, depending on the size of the logs and whether you choose to seal the ends. (Sealing the holes is critical to success because it protects the spawn from drying out and from contamination.)
If inoculating logs in fall and applying wax in temps below 50 degrees F, daubers and wax will harden quickly. Therefore, we recommend a plugged-in crock pot (vs. a pot taken from the stove) for dipping.
Optional add-ons:
Please note that 50 lb. bags of wax are not eligible for free shipping.

Sealing Wax
The wax comes as advertised. Melts quickly on the heat and seals quickly. My advice is to heat it low and slow. A fast burn produces alot of smoke,Can't be healthy to inhale.
Easy to use Wax
This granulated log sealing wax was very easy to use. I used an old pan I had laying around. It melted extremely quickly on a low heat, and was ready to use within seconds. I used this wax to seal shiitake plugs into several logs. I recommend melting a little wax at a time-- A few drops of wax per plug was all I needed.
Great wax
Great company to deal with for spores and their wax works great as well.
Quality Wax
Easy to work with, and melts quickly. I got a crock pot from goodwill and I was in business! Good quality for a low cost.
Granulated Wax
Product arrived promptly. Wax melted pretty quickly. Performed as it should. Start melting your wax before you start drilling logs if using crock pot. Especially if your melting a lot of wax. Will buy again.
