North Spore Mycology Scholarship
We are excited to announce North Spore’s Scholarship 2024 with the purpose of supporting undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in an accredited university within the United States and high school seniors who have been accepted into a university program for the Spring of 2024.
The scholarship provides a one-time reward of $2,500 to pay for tuition, books, computers, accommodation, and any other educational expenses. We’re in search of students committed to academic excellence and the pursuit of better education, who are currently enrolled in any mycology program, a postgraduate study in mycology, or other related studies.

Criteria for Applicants
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Must be a legal resident of the United States or a holder of a valid student visa
- Must be currently enrolled in or accepted to a full-time program in an accredited US university or college
- Must be a student of mycology, a postgraduate student in mycology, or another related study
How to Apply
Applicants interested must write a 300-word essay discussing the following:
"How will your studies in the field of mycology contribute to a healthier world?"
Essays must be sent to scholarships@northspore.com as an attached PDF file, along with your full name, address, contact information, school name, and date of birth.

Scholarship Winners
Sarah - 2023
Sarah is a part-time biology student at Kent State University and Hiram College and is a dedicated field collector for the Ohio Mushroom DNA Lab. Her journey in mycology has been marked by a fervent commitment to unraveling the mysteries of fungal diversity in Eastern North America.
Justina - 2022
Justina began attending the Los Angeles Mycological Society’s monthly lecture series at age 11, and is currently attending UCLA where she works in the Mycofluidics Laboratory studying genetic behavior in multinucleate fungi. She plans to register UCLA’s first student Mycology Club this spring and is passionate about spreading awareness of the fungal kingdom and its role in our ecosystem.
Julio - 2021
Julio is active with Oklahoma Fungi, a statewide organization that offers forays and classes. With Environment for the Americas, he is working to integrate mycology into the National Park System's education program.
