Director of Marketing

Job Title: Director of Marketing

About the Role:

We're seeking a data- and hypothesis-driven Director of Marketing to lead North Spore’s
e-commerce growth strategy. You will own conversion rate optimization (CRO), site testing,
merchandising strategy, and pricing initiatives across our DTC website—and manage a small
team executing against those initiatives. This is a cross-functional role that blends product
thinking, analytics, and marketing execution to drive measurable growth.
You’ll manage and mentor an E-commerce Manager (focused on site execution, merchandising,
and product set-up).

 

Key Responsibilities:

Growth Strategy & Roadmapping

● Develop and own the e-commerce growth roadmap—aligned to North Spore’s goals across AOV, conversion rate, and LTV.

● Build and lead execution of a growth roadmap including all testing and implementation of performant tests

● Identify bottlenecks in the purchase journey and propose experiments to remove friction.

 

Team Leadership

Manage, coach, and support an E-commerce Manager.

● Set clear goals and KPIs for the team and ensure alignment with broader growth objectives.

● Foster a culture of ownership, testing, and continuous improvement.

 

Product Optimization & CRO

● Own website optimization strategy: page layouts, PDP enhancements, bundle logic, variant structures, and upsell paths.

● Partner with design/dev to launch A/B tests and UX updates that improve funnel performance.

● Develop hypotheses based on behavioral data and execute test-and-learn cycles to validate.

● Leverage segmentation and cohort analysis to improve retention and cross-sell effectiveness.

 

Merchandising & Pricing Strategy

● Analyze product performance to inform pricing changes, kit configurations, and promotions.

● Partner with Product and Inventory teams to identify growth opportunities in the catalog.

 

Cross-Functional Execution

Collaborate with marketing, design/dev, customer service, and ops to execute growth experiments.

● Work closely with the Lifecycle manager to integrate lifecycle programs (email/SMS flows, replenishment nudges, loyalty) into the overall growth strategy.

Qualifications

● 5–8 years of experience in e-commerce growth, product, or performance marketing roles

● At least 1–2 years of experience managing direct reports or leading cross-functional pods

● Proven experience driving DTC growth through experimentation, site optimization, and merchandising

● Strong analytical toolkit: Excel/Sheets, GA4, Looker or similar BI tools

● Familiarity with Shopify (or similar CMS), Klaviyo, and modern marketing stacks

● Bonus: Experience with fungi, food/agriculture, or enthusiast/hobbyist brands

Seasonal Production Specialist

Job Title: Seasonal Production Specialist

 

About the Role:

North Spore is seeking seasonal (January 19 - May 15) full-time assistants to work on our production team throughout our busy spawn season. Our new, state-of-the-art mushroom cultivation supply and manufacturing facility is located in Portland, Maine.

 

The job includes a lot of repetitive manual labor, lifting up to 50 lbs, getting sawdust, grain, and manure on your shoes - great for those familiar with the pleasures of agricultural work or those with previous manufacturing experience!

 

We all work hard all day but we also like to have fun, listen to good music, keep clever company, and get stuff done. Pay starts at $18/hr with a $2.50/hr shift differential increase for the Saturday and Sunday work. There is a probationary period of 60 days for the position. 1 week sick PTO plus 1 week Vacation PTO accrued as you work. Full time employees are also offered retirement benefits of a 401k with employer match after 3 months of full-time employment.

 

We currently have 3 open shifts that we are hoping to fill this season:

• Monday - Thursday, 7am - 5:30pm
• Wednesday - Saturday, 7am - 5:30pm
• Thursday - Sunday from 7am - 5:30pm

There is also the potential for a split schedule throughout the week; applicants with open availability will be prioritized.

Medicinals Production Specialist

Job Title: Medicinals Production Specialist

About the Role:

 

North Spore is looking for a part-time Medicinals Production Specialist to assist with the production of our medicinal tinctures and products. Work will be primarily carried out at Fork Food Lab, with work as required at North Spore’s primary location.

The job includes a lot of repetitive manual labor such as making tinctures, bottling, labeling, boxing & lifting up to 50 lbs. There will also be consistent paperwork and documentation to support FDA cGMP protocals. A general working knowledge of cGMPs, specifically CFR 111 subparts, is preferred. This position requires any applicants to have a valid drivers license due to the need of moving product between facilities in the company car. This job will also require using heavy machinery at times (pallet jack and barrell dolly) and a ServeSafe certification. We will provide the necessary training and certification to the right candidate.

We like to do hard work while also having fun and listening to good music. This is an excellent position for those who have prior experience in the kitchen, cannabis production, lab work, or another detail oriented product manufacturing position.

The shift would be three 8 hour days: Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday from 8am-4:30pm. There is the possibility of more hours seasonally as required but not to exceed 30 hours a week.

There is a probationary period of 60 days for the position. The pay rate starts at $20/hour. Since this is a part-time position, it is not eligible for health, dental, vision, or other benefits only available to full time employees working an average of more than 30 hrs per week. About the Role:

 

North Spore is looking for a full-time, year-round Product Prep Specialist to help with process and packaging, quality checking, restocking and organizing of our in-house manufactured products as well as outsourced goods. The Product Prep Specialist will work within the dynamic Product Prep team, assisting with all prep tasks. Our new, state-of-the-art mushroom cultivation supply and manufacturing facility is located in Portland, Maine. No experience is necessary as we are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, energetic, and able to maintain a good pace throughout the day. You must be comfortable both working independently and in a team setting.

Pay starts at $18/hr. After a probationary period of 60 days, you will have access to health benefits with our base plan at a silver level, dental, vision, short and long term disability, life insurance, earned paid time off, paid sick time, retirement benefits, and a significant employee discount. We also offer plots in our community garden and free compost for those plots.

About the Role:

We are seeking a hands-on, strategic Retail Sales and Marketing Manager to lead the growth of our retail, commercial, and wholesale channels. This role will own and manage relationships with retailers, major wholesale accounts, and sales brokers, while also driving retail marketing initiatives that support product sell-through and brand consistency.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in Lawn and Garden and/or Functional Products sales and marketing and thrives on building relationships, solving problems, and turning strategy into action.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales – Retail, Wholesale and Commercial

  • Own and manage a portfolio of B2B accounts, including retailers, national wholesale distributors, and commercial buyers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and sales reps, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and sales goals.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to expand presence in retail and commercial channels while driving product sell-through.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for retail and commercial accounts—handling inquiries, negotiating terms, and providing product support.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities across retail, garden centers, farm/ag stores, and commercial sectors (e.g. labs, education, wellness).
  • Partner with the operations team to support demand planning and fulfillment accuracy.
  • Attend trade shows, customer meetings, and events to support relationship development and product education.
  • Own and manage pricing, P&L, and product assortment for all retail and commercial accounts.

Retail Marketing – Strategy and Execution

  • Plan and execute retail marketing initiatives that support sales goals and enhance in-store and online presence.
  • Collaborate with the internal marketing and creative teams to produce retail assets, educational materials, and merchandising tools.
  • Work with brokers and partners to coordinate promotions, campaigns, and seasonal sales efforts.
  • Develop co-marketing programs and support retail partners with product knowledge, training, and brand education.
  • Monitor campaign performance and adapt based on metrics, feedback, and sell-through trends.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with product development, operations, and customer support to ensure alignment across the customer lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of SOPs and tools for sales enablement and partner support.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador internally and externally, promoting the North Spore mission and product values.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in lawn and garden, CPG, natural products, or specialty retail sales.
  • Experience managing retail and commercial accounts, including direct sales and broker/rep partnerships.
  • Familiarity with distributor networks, retail buyer relationships, and key sales processes (sell-in, onboarding, sell-through support).
  • Strong working knowledge of retail marketing practices and in-store promotional strategy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—able to manage multiple stakeholder relationships with professionalism and warmth.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, sales reporting, and marketing analytics.
  • Willingness to travel for trade shows, account meetings, and partner visits.
  • Passion for sustainability, mushrooms, or DIY/gardening products is a strong plus.
