About the Role:

North Spore is looking for a full-time, year-round Product Prep Specialist to help with process and packaging, quality checking, restocking and organizing of our in house manufactured products as well as outsourced goods. The Product Prep Specialist will work within the dynamic Product Prep team, assisting with all prep tasks.

About the Role:

 

We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented full-time E-commerce Fulfillment team member to work at our state-of-the-art mushroom cultivation supply and manufacturing facility in Portland, Maine.


In this role, you will be responsible for fulfilling orders for our thriving e-commerce store. Your days will be spent making boxes, moving small objects, verifying pick and pack lists, and ensuring that our products are shipped out to our customers quickly and accurately. You will also less frequently work with our other departments on an as-needed basis.


The position requires you to lift up to 50 lbs several times a day, and 1 to 30 lb packages throughout the day. No warehouse experience is necessary as we are looking for individuals with a manual labor background who are enthusiastic, energetic, and able to maintain a good pace throughout the day. You must be comfortable both working independently and in a team setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily order processing, order-related administration, customer inquiries, and new account setup are the core, time-sensitive priorities of this role and are expected to be completed by the end of each business day. Additional projects, initiatives, and cross-departmental requests are taken on once these daily responsibilities are current. The Sales Administrator is expected to communicate promptly with the Retail Sales Manager when daily work is at risk of not being completed.

Wholesale and commercial order administration

  • Input and manage wholesale orders received by EDI, email and/or phone, the Shopify B2B wholesale website, and Faire, in an accurate and timely manner
  • Process orders through EDI for designated accounts and distributors
  • Administer the commercial channel, including commercial customer relationships and all related order administration; note that the commercial channel runs on a separate ordering system from retail wholesale
  • Investigate and resolve order issues in coordination with the sales team and the operations/fulfillment teams, initiating cross-departmental conversations and meetings as needed to bring issues to resolution
  • Set up and maintain specific custom order-input and invoicing processes for accounts that require them
  • Complete all necessary sales-related paperwork and documentation in a timely fashion
  • Maintain and organize digital documents such as purchase orders, invoices, and contracts, keeping shared files in a clear, consistent structure others can navigate

 

Account setup and administration

  • Review and approve new retail, commercial, and wholesale accounts and ensure all necessary documentation is complete
  • Complete new item paperwork and account setup requirements for retail partners and distributors
  • Set up drop-ship direct-to-customer wholesale accounts using the Shopify Collective app, and maintain processes with ongoing drop-ship direct-to-customer wholesale partners

Wholesale website, catalog, and account materials

  • Own the Shopify B2B wholesale website in full — keeping products, pricing, content, and marketing materials current and managing the site day to day
  • Keep catalog information up to date across ordering systems and customer-facing materials
  • Manage and maintain North Spore's Faire storefront, keeping product listings, imagery, descriptions, and pricing current and consistent with our other wholesale channels, monitoring product performance, and overseeing the promotional and marketing levers available through the platform
  • Support accounts with marketing materials

 

Customer support and outreach

  • Provide excellent customer service support to wholesale and commercial partners by answering phone calls and emails, resolving complaints, and answering questions
  • Assist sales team with order fulfillment, logistics, and customer inquiries
  • Manage retail acquisition campaigns using AI-assisted outreach platforms, and assist with other customer marketing efforts such as Faire campaigns and monthly newsletters
  • Follow up with customers who haven't ordered in a while to re-engage them, by phone and email
  • Track and organize customer communications in the CRM to support outbound sales efforts
  • Coordinate tradeshow preparation and logistics, including organizing sales and marketing materials, helping the team prepare for events, and ensuring all materials are produced and shipped on the necessary timeline; occasional attendance at tradeshows may be included from time to time but is not a regular expectation of the role

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Prior experience in a similar sales administration or wholesale order operations role preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to keep shared files, digital assets, email inboxes, and calendars accurate, current, and easy for others to reference
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Comfortable communicating with customers directly by phone
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, including Sheets, Drive, and Calendar, as well as Word
  • Comfort learning and staying organized in a customer relationship management (CRM) platform

Schedule:

Full-time, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST, excluding North Spore observed holidays. There will be weeks where work outside of and beyond normally scheduled hours is expected, including evenings, weekends, and over 40 hours, as the duties of the role require.

Position Overview:

We're looking for a Head of Marketing to be the steward of our brand as we enter our next phase of growth. This is a brand-first leadership role — focused on how North Spore shows up in the world, how customers experience us, and how we deepen the love and loyalty that have made us the category leader. You'll lead brand, creative, content, community, and the campaign calendar that brings our products and promotions to life across every channel, partnering closely with the CEO, Director of Ecommerce, and the broader leadership team.

As Head of Marketing, you'll set the creative and brand vision for North Spore and bring it to life across every customer touchpoint — from packaging and retail displays to organic social, YouTube, our website, and the experiences that turn first-time growers into lifelong mushroom enthusiasts.

This is a senior leadership role focused on brand strategy, storytelling, creative excellence, community, and owning the marketing calendar. You'll be accountable for what North Spore stands for, how it feels, and how that translates into deeper customer relationships, stronger word of mouth, and a brand that continues to define the category. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Brand, Creative & Storytelling

  • Own the North Spore brand end-to-end — positioning, messaging, voice, and visual identity — and evolve it as we grow into new categories, audiences, and channels.
  • Set the creative vision and ensure it shows up consistently and in a compelling manner across the website, packaging, paid creative, organic content, retail displays, and educational materials.
  • Lead the creative team to produce content that is distinctive, on-brand, and category-leading.
  • Combine qualitative insight (customer feedback, creator learnings, brand POV) with performance signals to guide creative iteration and storytelling that resonates.

2. Campaign Calendar, Promotions & Product Launches

  • Own the full marketing campaign calendar — including seasonal moments, promotions, focused product pushes, and brand campaigns — and ensure it ladders up to a coherent annual brand and revenue narrative.
  • Lead end-to-end strategy and execution of new product and sub-brand launches across the North Spore portfolio, ensuring each one strengthens the master brand and lands with impact across DTC, Amazon, and retail.
  • Partner with E-commerce and Growth to translate the marketing calendar into great work across every channel — from site and email to paid and retail.

3. Organic Channels, Content & Community

  • Own all organic channels end-to-end — including YouTube, organic social (TikTok, Instagram, etc.), blog, and other owned content surfaces — setting the strategy, editorial direction, and performance bar across each one.
  • Make North Spore the place people go to learn, get inspired, and become part of something bigger — building on our reputation as the most trusted teacher in mushroom cultivation.
  • Build and scale the community engine — UGC, creator, affiliate, and ambassador programs (via the Community Manager) — that turns customers into advocates and grows brand visibility through love, not just spend.
  • Develop community-led growth loops rooted in education and inspiration, cultivating an army of super-fans across different customer segments.

4. Customer Experience Across DTC, Retail & In-Store

  • Ensure a cohesive, premium brand experience across every channel — DTC, Amazon, and retail — so a customer who meets us on a shelf has the same feeling as one who meets us on YouTube.
  • Own the in-store brand experience — packaging, displays, and educational materials — partnering with retail sales to drive sell-through and execute co-marketing with key accounts.
  • Hold the bar on how the brand shows up across the website and other owned surfaces, partnering with e-commerce on merchandising, storytelling, and on-site experience.

5. Team Leadership & Operations

  • Build and lead a high-performance brand, creative, content, and community team — with clear goals, accountability, and creative operating rhythms.
  • Partner closely with the CEO and Director of Ecommerce ensure brand and growth work as one system.
  • Build systems and processes that allow creative quality and brand consistency to scale.
  • Partner with product and ops to inform roadmap, packaging, and launch planning based on customer insight.
  • Manage the brand, creative, content, community, and campaign budget with discipline and clarity.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 5+ years in marketing leadership, with a clear track record of building and stewarding beloved consumer brands — ideally in DTC or omnichannel categories.
  • Deep brand and creative chops: you've shaped positioning, led creative teams, and produced work that customers actually love and remember.
  • A storyteller and taste-maker who can hold the bar on creative quality across packaging, content, and campaigns.

We’re looking for an Ecommerce Lifecycle Manager to own and scale our retention engine, turning first-time customers into confident repeat growers and rapid, lifelong brand advocates. You’ll manage email campaigns, build automations, and continuously test new ways to improve engagement, AOV, and retention. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Lifecycle Strategy & Execution

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle strategy across email and SMS — building and optimizing flows, managing the marketing calendar, and defining clear customer pathways that turn every customer into a rapid and loyal fan for life.
  • Develop sophisticated segmentation strategies to deliver targeted, relevant messaging at scale, including the ability to design systems that scale without proportional effort

  • Align onsite experience, promotions, and merchandising with lifecycle campaigns
  • Collaborate on CRO opportunities that improve conversion and AOV


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3+ years of experience in lifecycle, email, or CRM marketing (ecommerce preferred)
  • Resourceful, self-directed, and comfortable with ambiguity — bias toward action, high bar for execution quality, and genuine curiosity about what's becoming possible with the tools and tactics available to modern lifecycle marketers
  • Hands-on experience with Klaviyo or similar email/SMS marketing platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Iterable, Active Campaign)
  • Strong understanding of Shopify and how email marketing connects to the onsite experience
  • Experience with Recharge or subscription-based ecommerce is a plus
  • Proven ability to build, optimize, and automate lifecycle flows and campaigns

  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of SOPs and tools for sales enablement and partner support.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador internally and externally, promoting the North Spore mission and product values.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in lawn and garden, CPG, natural products, or specialty retail sales.
  • Experience managing retail and commercial accounts, including direct sales and broker/rep partnerships.
  • Familiarity with distributor networks, retail buyer relationships, and key sales processes (sell-in, onboarding, sell-through support).
  • Strong working knowledge of retail marketing practices and in-store promotional strategy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—able to manage multiple stakeholder relationships with professionalism and warmth.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, sales reporting, and marketing analytics.
  • Willingness to travel for trade shows, account meetings, and partner visits.
  • Passion for sustainability, mushrooms, or DIY/gardening products is a strong plus.

Product Prep: A Product Prep Specialist helps with process and packaging, quality checking, restocking and organizing of our in-house manufactured products as well as outsourced goods. The Product Prep Specialist will work within the dynamic Product Prep team, assisting with all prep tasks.

Fulfillment: In this role, you will be responsible for fulfilling orders for our thriving e-commerce store. Your days will be spent making boxes, moving small objects, verifying pick and pack lists, and ensuring that our products are shipped out to our customers quickly and accurately. You will also less frequently work with our other departments on an as-needed basis.

Production: A production specialist is the starting point for all our products. The job includes a lot of repetitive manual labor, lifting up to 50 lbs, getting sawdust, grain, and manure on your shoes - great for those familiar with the pleasures of agricultural work or those with previous manufacturing experience!

Seasonal: Each team often needs seasonal help to help us get through our busy winter and spring seasons. A typical seasonal season is from November 1 - May 15 with the ability for some variability in schedule.
