EU General Product Safety Regulation
The health and safety of the people who grow with our products is fundamental to how we design and sell them.
North Spore products offered for sale to consumers in the European Union comply with the General Product Safety Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2023/988 (GPSR). This page sets out the safety information, responsible-party contact details, and incident-reporting channels required under that Regulation.
Who is responsible for these products
Under Article 16 GPSR, a product may only be placed on the EU market if there is an economic operator established in the Union responsible for it. For North Spore products, that responsible person is our appointed EU Authorised Representative, named below.

Full safety warnings and instructions for each product offered in the EU are published in the attached documents in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, and Polish. The same warnings appear on the product packaging and in the product listing on this website. Please read all safety information before use, and keep it for future reference.
Boomr Bin — Automated Mushroom Growing Kit

Key warnings
- Contains electrical components (FAE Fan Mini, Myco-Mister Mini, MYCOntroller). Keep away from children and pets. Do not handle with wet hands, and discontinue use if a power cord is damaged — risk of electrocution.
- Requires 70% isopropyl alcohol for sanitisation. Isopropyl alcohol is flammable — keep away from flames, sparks, and heat, use in a well-ventilated area, and keep out of reach of children.
- Plastic bags and small parts present a suffocation and choking hazard. Dispose of all plastic packaging immediately and never leave children unattended with the product.
- Mushroom cultivation releases spores into the surrounding air. If you have allergies or asthma, consider the placement of your Boomr Bin carefully. Discontinue use and consult a medical professional if you experience persistent respiratory irritation.
- Intended solely for the cultivation of edible and medicinal mushrooms. Do not use for any other purpose.
Always unplug all electrical components before cleaning, maintenance, or relocation. Do not immerse electrical components in water. Repairs must only be carried out by qualified persons.

Key warnings
- Keep the BoomRoom and all electrical components away from children and pets. Children must never be left unattended around the product — it presents a suffocation hazard.
- Dispose of plastic bags immediately to avoid risk of suffocation to children or animals.
- Do not plug in electrical components with wet hands, and discontinue use of any accessory whose power cord is damaged — risk of electrocution.
- Do not climb on the shelves or load more than 9 kg (20 lb) per shelf. Exceeding the maximum shelf capacity can damage the product and create a safety hazard.
- The filter stops the majority — but not all — spores from entering the surrounding air. If you have allergies or asthma, we do not recommend growing in a living space unless you can vent through a window; ducting is supplied for this purpose.
- Do not assemble if parts are missing. Contact us for replacement parts.
Unplug the fan, humidifier, humidity controller, and all other electrical components before cleaning. Do not use bleach or abrasive products. Allow all components to dry fully before reconnecting to power. Always use distilled water in your humidifier.

Reporting a safety concern or accident
If you believe a North Spore product is unsafe, or if an accident has occurred involving one of our products, please tell us. Reports are logged in our product safety register, investigated, and, where a product is found to present a risk, reported to the competent national authorities through the EU Safety Business Gateway, as required by Article 20 GPSR.
Please include, where you can:
- The product name and, if available, the batch or model identifier
- Your order number and date of purchase
- A description of what happened, and any injury or damage caused
- Photographs of the product and of the issue
Send this to info@northspore.com or to our EU Authorised Representative at GPSR@euify.eu. We acknowledge every report and will keep you informed of the outcome.
You can also consult the European Commission's Safety Gate portal, the EU rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products, where recalls and safety warnings are published.
Recalls and corrective action
If we determine that a product we have placed on the EU market presents a risk, we will take immediate corrective action: withdrawing the product from sale, notifying the relevant market surveillance authorities, and contacting affected customers directly using the order details we hold.
Where a product is recalled, you will be offered a choice of remedies as required by Article 37 GPSR: repair, replacement, or a refund of at least the price you paid. Returning a recalled product will never be at your cost, and accepting a remedy does not affect any other rights you have under EU or national consumer law, including your statutory guarantee and your 14-day right of withdrawal.
Active recalls and safety notices affecting North Spore products will be published on this page. There are currently no active recalls.
Technical documentation and traceability
We maintain internal technical documentation for each product placed on the EU market, including a risk analysis and a description of measures taken to mitigate identified risks. This documentation is retained for ten years from the date the product is placed on the market and is available to market surveillance authorities on request.
Every product carries a type, batch, or serial identifier together with our name and contact address on the product itself or, where the size or nature of the product does not allow it, on the packaging or in an accompanying document.
