Lion's mane mushrooms are as delicious as they are healthy. (And they're not just known for looking like a brain -- they feed your brain too!) Lion’s mane makes an incredible vegan meat substitute, with a flavor and texture similar to crab. Plus, it’s an excellent source of protein, essential amino acids, antioxidants, and beta glucans.

This kit is fire

Each lion's mane mushroom kit produces plump, dense, shaggy "pom pom" mushroom clusters. Once activated, the kit should begin to pin in 7-10 days, with the first full flush in about two weeks. ("Pins" are another name for baby mushrooms.) With continued proper care, the kit should produce 2-3 flushes. And once the kit stops producing indoors, it can be planted outdoors for a second life!

Inside your Spray & Grow Kit is a living organism, so we recommend activating it upon receipt. If you need to wait, they can be refrigerated for up to 6 months. 

It's important to get the area where you cut open the bag nice and damp! Try 5-10 sprays each time. If the surface of the block seems very dry the next time you spray it, you should give it a bit more water or water a bit more often. If you run AC or live in an arid climate, using a humidity tent can be useful to prevent your block from drying out.

We guarantee at least one fruiting of mushrooms off your kit, but it is possible to have multiple fruitings with care and patience. In terms of yield, you can usually expect your first flush to be somewhere in the range of 1/2 of a pound to 2 lbs. Each subsequent fruiting will likely be smaller as the fungi use up nutrients in the substrate.

The word fruit can be very specific, referring to foods like berries and apples, or a bit more general to refer to how an organism reproduces. So tomatoes and rosehips are the fruits of those plants; they contain the seeds. Mushrooms are the fruits of a fungus; they contain spores. So when a fungus starts to produce mushrooms, we call that fruiting.

Hold the cluster near the base and spin them. If you'd rather use a knife and cut them, that's fine too! Clean off any loose bits from the kit before continuing to spray and cut off any bits of sawdust from the block on your mushrooms before cooking and eating them.

After removing the front panel of the box along the perforated lines, cut an X into the exposed plastic. Remember to leave the plastic flaps of the X on the bag, they'll help to keep moisture in. The mushrooms will easily grow out of the sliced X section, so no need to open it up more as they fruit.

The first harvest wasn't as big as the ones I see. The second harvest is taking quite some time to even start pinning. Should I take it out of the box. Update, it never did a second grow even under the conditions it was said to have it in. So I only got one harvest out of the grow at home pack and it was very small.

If it’s the same genetics at Northspore, you’re gonna love this pack

I’ve never grown any of the pre-packaged kits, but I’ve followed Northstar and their instruction videos mostly from YouTube and their website that I don’t have now. Oh well. these genetics are amazing and so is Northstar, so I guarantee it’ll be great there, lions, mane, genetics or second to none. I followed their video how to make 5 pound hardwood spawn blocks. And I’ve had nothing but success even after three flushes I’m still getting small fruits out of my compost area. These are some photos from the other day when I went out, looked at some of the blocks I had tossed into the pile and they were good size fruits, the biggest being the size of a good size man’s fist, so I was quite happy. I pick them out, wash them off and had them for dinner.
