7 reviewsA clear food-grade paraffin wax ideal for sealing holes in inoculated logs. One pound of wax is enough to seal about 10 logs with some variability depending on the size of the logs and whether you choose to seal the ends.
We recommend using an old crock pot (try looking forĀ one at a thrift store) and allocating it for melting wax.
Sealing the holes is critical to success because it protects the spawn from drying out and from contamination.

Quality paraffin at a good price point. No harsh chemical smell like some other waxes. Ordered and received the same week. Will buy again.
This granulated log sealing wax was very easy to use. I used an old pan I had laying around. It melted extremely quickly on a low heat, and was ready to use within seconds. I used this wax to seal shiitake plugs into several logs. I recommend melting a little wax at a time-- A few drops of wax per plug was all I needed.
Product arrived promptly. Wax melted pretty quickly. Performed as it should. Start melting your wax before you start drilling logs if using crock pot. Especially if your melting a lot of wax. Will buy again.
Easy to work with, and melts quickly. I got a crock pot from goodwill and I was in business! Good quality for a low cost.
North spore wax is on convenient sizes and is very easy to work with. I will definitely be buying more from North Spore. No matter what I have ordered shipping communication has been excellent thanks!
