the kit that started it all

This was my first kit and how I became obsessed with mycology. It was so incredible to watch this process and have the reward of the mushroom.

    Soo many shiitake

Using one bag of plug spawn I've had 2 flushes (sometime 3!) of mushrooms consistently for the past 4 years. The process of plugging the logs was easy, using a drill attachment on an angle grinder worked much better then using just a drill.

    in love

Absolutely love this kit, it has made a world of difference. Was doing the normal grow bags and when I got this i cut the tops of the bags and put the fruiting blocks right in. Love the controlled environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

New to mushroom growing? Here are some common questions beginners ask before they start their first grow.

Most mushroom kits start producing their first harvest (called a “flush”) within 2–3 weeks of setup. Some species—like Lion’s Mane—can take a little longer, while fast growers such as Oyster mushrooms may be ready even sooner.

Not necessarily! Spray & Grow Kits come with everything you need. Just mist them with water and keep them at room temperature. As you advance, you can add humidity tents, grow lights, or sterile tools for higher yields and more control.

Yes. Indoor grow kits fruit comfortably at typical household temperatures. Outdoor log or bed grows depend on seasonal conditions, but you can enjoy indoor harvests any time of year.

Oyster mushrooms are very forgiving and fast to grow, making them ideal for first-time cultivators.

Occasionally conditions like low humidity or shipping delays can affect growth. North Spore stands behind every kit. Contact our support team with a photo and order number, and we’ll help troubleshoot or replace your kit if needed.
