Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus) produces plump, dense, shaggy mushroom clusters with a consistency and flavor similar to crab meet. This mushroom is highly versatile and can be enjoyed cooked, dried, extracted, or even steeped as a tea! While slightly more difficult to get flushes than oysters, they are great for confident beginners and are reliable indoor year-round producers. And, if kept in the right conditions, they will yield substantial first, second, and even third harvests (making them an ideal commercial variety!) Note that lion's mane can be prone to drying out if the ambient humidity is too low.
Lion's Mane grain spawn can be used for indoor production using sawdust-based sterile substrate.
Do not use grain spawn for log inoculation.

Lion's mane mushroom grain spawn can be mixed into sterilized hardwood sawdust to create lion's mane substrate blocks.
Note: Grain spawn must be mixed with bulk substrate before you can fruit it. If you are new to growing mushrooms, we recommend purchasing a book on mushroom cultivation.

Its unique flavor and consistency make it ideal as a seafood substitute in recipes. We like to slice it into rounds and pan-fry it in olive oil or butter. We also recommend ripping it up and making vegan or vegetarian crab cakes with it. You can find some amazing recipes online!

Our grain spawn is USDA certified organic and made using organic cultures from our own culture bank. It contains a blend of locally sourced, organic, and non-GMO ingredients from farms in New England and North America.

If you’re going to consume home-grown mushrooms, make sure to cook your fresh mushrooms thoroughly with heat. If it is your first time eating this species, it is best to start with a small amount to check for allergies, even if cooked.

Lobster of the Trees!
We love our Lions Mane as "mush" as our customers. The taste and texture is outstanding! My husband who doesn't eat mushrooms loves these. The spawn is very healthy and colonizes quickly. Great size and multiple flushes will keep us buying from North Spore!

Excellent
This grain spawn is awesome! Excellent product, this is my second time buying from them, always quality
Lions Mane
Second time ordering from North Spore and they do not disappoint! If you are looking for Lions Mane grain spawn, definitely order from North Spore. Overall experience is great! From their customer service to their spawn, simply outstanding! Will continue to order from North Spore!

Lion's Mane
This is my second time buying the Lion's Mane grain spawn from North Spore and just like the previous batch it is super healthy and a fast grower. I colonized some hot water pasteurized aspen chips on 4/14 (about 10 oz to 4lbs of damp chips) in an autoclave bag and already I'm seeing happy little lion's mane pins starting to form. Also worth noting, when I got the bag I was worried that a spot was possibly contamination and emailed in a photo to the team, they responded quickly and informed me that what I was seeing was a fruiting body that was possibly starting to decompose. Easy fix, I picked out that spot as they suggested and then used the grain as normal with my aspen chips. I would definitely suggest using the grain spawn from North Spore as its quality, and they're a friendly and informative group. It may be a bit of a wait to get the grain spore, but they communicate that and it's worth it in my opinion.

Lion's Mane Grain from Maine
This was my second time ordering from North Spore and they did not disappoint. I ordered LION'S MANE grains. It took my order about 10 days to arrive. From Maine to VA that's pretty good considering how mail has been during this **** in our Earths timeline. Grains were fully inoculated and clean. ZERO contaminants. I did a couple grows mixing the grains with sawdust . Did up a few cardboard boxes up of Lion's Mane grain and soaked cardboard(make sure you get the corrugated sections) for some cold inoculation boxes. THEY LOVE THE WOOD GLUE. Then use the inoculated cardboard sheets for projects . Press between to sawed log rounds etc. I've really been playing around focusing on more outdoor projects as I have the land and more important the LOGS. Gonna use the grain to make up some WOOD PLUG SPAWN for logs. If you're reading this go with North Spore. Go with them for the product quality and customer service . I haven't had to send anything back but I know they are there for you if your product is subpar (which will be doubtful but it happens). 5 out of 5 fruiting bodies(stars) Say it with me LION'S ......(say it like Terrance Howard from Hustle and flow ) MANE.............LION'S MANE GRAIN FROM MAINE
