Please note: Blewit does not grow well on pure grain and requires a compost amendment. We recommend 2:1 grain to compost.
Blewit (Clitocybe nuda) is an eye-catching mushroom that produces smooth, medium-to-large lilac caps. When cooked, they have a meaty texture that is quite satisfying. Their delicious flavor is mild but distinct, often described as mushroomy and woody with a hint of pepper. Blewit mushroom yields can be somewhat unpredictable, and they can pose some minor challenges with identification when grown outdoors. However, they can be quite rewarding to more experienced growers.
Our liquid culture syringes are ~10ml and come sealed in a plastic sleeve with a sterile 16 gauge needle and alcohol wipe.
About liquid culture:
Liquid culture is mycelium suspended in a nutrient-rich medium. Syringes are beginner-friendly and ideal for those looking for an easy way to inoculate grain bags and jars.
Directions for use:
For best results, refrigerate upon receipt. Syringes should be inserted into a self-healing injection port. Always handle using sterile technique and shake thoroughly before use. We recommended inoculation in either a still air box or flow hood to reduce the possibility of contamination. If you plan to re-use your needle, sterilize before and after each subsequent use.

Excellent
Blewit mushrooms are near and dear to my heart as I’ve often come across them growing in the duff of forests. I was so excited to find out North Spore sells LC of this delicious mushroom. LC to agar has been highly successful with beautiful pale lilac clouds of mycelium developing within a week. I’ve transferred the agar to sterilized grains and it’s been quite beautiful watching the mycelium expand onto the grains. I’m so grateful to have the opportunity cultivate this species in vitro and observed its growth.
