Hen of the Woods (Maitake) Liquid Culture Syringe
|Volume||10 cc / 10 ml|
|Shelf life||2 months (refrigerated)|
'Birdie' hen of the woods (Grifola frondosa) is a favorite indoor commercial strain from the west coast. It is a reliable producer that is slow growing, and when successfully cultivated, yields large, dense, delicious clusters! On average, you can expect 1/2-1 lb yield on first flush off of 5 lb supplemented sawdust.
Our liquid culture syringes are ~10ml and come sealed in a plastic sleeve with a sterile 16 gauge needle and alcohol wipe.
About liquid culture:
Liquid culture is mycelium suspended in a nutrient-rich medium. Syringes are beginner-friendly and ideal for those looking for an easy way to inoculate grain bags and jars.
Directions for use:
For best results, refrigerate upon receipt. Syringes should be inserted into a self-healing injection port. Always handle using sterile technique and shake thoroughly before use. We recommended inoculation in either a still air box or flow hood to reduce the possibility of contamination. If you plan to re-use your needle, sterilize before and after each subsequent use.

Very Healthy LC
It was my first time inoculating a grain. I used my own grain (also first time). I later realized that I did not soak the grain long enough but even still the LC colonized both batches. I also used Lions Mane LC from this company at the same time with the same great results. Also the customer support is awesome!
Thought it didnt work but it works great I love North Spore.
I am new to mushroom growing and decided to start with maitake which in hindsight probably was not the best idea. I didn't realize how slow growing it was, I finally got it to take to grain, and its coming in nicely. I cant wait to fruit it in my Martha tent which I also picked up from North Spore.
