Monotubs are the easiest and most cost-effective way to scale up your indoor mushroom grow! They can be used as enclosed beds to house substrate and spawn for top-fruiting mushrooms. Or, they can be used as grow chambers for fruiting blocks and kits.
Made by Max Yield Bins, this unit is designed with airflow and humidity control, so there’s no need for any high-tech additions. And its compact size makes it ideal for use in almost any location. (Bonus: the top and bottom can be stacked together for easy transport and storage when not in use.)
Features:
- Equipped to control airflow circulation and humidity retention
- Durable, with tight-fitting latches to keep the lid sealed to the base
- Light-blocking base to prevent mushrooms from growing on the sides
- Compact with an assembled size of 22.5"(L) 15.5”(W) 12”(H)
- Made in Canada

Why is the difference between the large and small holes on the monotub?
Both the large and small holes are for gas exchange. However, given the proximity of the small holes to the substrate, many growers will remove the micropore tape during fruiting to increase oxygen -- especially if the mushroom caps are too small and/or the stems are too thin and stringy. That said, if the mushrooms are growing just fine, many will just leave the micropore tape on (as it protects against contamination.)
Do I need to use micropore tape on the small holes, or can I just leave them open?
During colonization, you don't want the small holes open. Covering them with the black micropore tape keeps out contaminants and maintains a higher CO2 level.
How much coco coir should I use?
Only a thin layer of coco coir (approx. 1/2 inch) is necessary. Coco coir should only be added once monotub is fully colonized and pins begin to form.

We recommend cleaning your monotub between each use to keep all surfaces as sterile as possible.
- Wipe down all surfaces to remove dirt and spores with a soft cloth soaked in warm water.
- Sanitize by spraying with a 70% isopropyl alcohol solution inside and out.
- DO NOT use bleach or abrasives.

Monotub
I bought the monotub for my fruiting blocks and it has worked great, really good results on the piopinio mushrooms. Used a little perlite in the bottom for the help of getting the right humidity. Like the filters and the tape for the right air flow control. I highly recommend this mono to anyone.
Great product, even better customer service
My package arrived looking like it had been dropped or crushed, and my monotub lid was damaged. One email and a few pictures later they sent out a replacement the next day. The replacement looks great, and the instructions have been really easy to follow.

EXCELLENT STUFF
these are great cause they are already made and I don't have to screw around finding the right materials to make them. Besides they cost about the same as buying all the stuff to make them. If you buy the stuff to make them then you have bought an expensive drill bit you might never use again. And Tupperware tubs aren't cheap. You get paint all over and I ended up cracking a number of tubs drilling holes in them incorrectly. Should have just bought these. Would've saved me some time in the first place as well as some money. A few of these and a SAB along with some jars or grow bags and a PC and you're set for life. So unless you already own all the stuff to make these or just enjoy yourself doing so then go ahead. For those like me who enjoy a professionally made product then buy this now.
Great company
I ordered 2 max yield monotub bins and one of them arrived and the clear lid appeared to have been slammed or stepped on breaking it across the whole entire lid. I sent one email and picture and they had a new item sent out to me almost immediately. I’ve purchased the full Martha tent set up and look forward to setting it up and increasing my yield with all the great resources here on the learning section of the site
It's like hitting the easy button
To start, I decided to go with the manure loving kit utilizing the max yield monotub, and boy am I glad I did. Everything in the kit was super easy to use and so far, it's looking like I'm going to have a good, contamination free harvest. My little fungus is plenty happy, and growing more and more every day. If I had went with an all in one bag, I feel I likely would have given up on mycology, but I just ordered a second max yield kit to experiment with a different mushroom. I may have found my new hobby.
