Our mushroom fruiting block kits are fully colonized and ready to grow. Each block measures ~9x6x6 inches and weighs ~5lbs.
Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) is a nutritious medicinal mushroom that produces plump white clusters with icicle-like teeth. When cooked, it has a consistency and flavor similar to crab meat. Though slightly harder to get flushes than oysters or shiitake, they are still a great mushroom for confident beginners. They colonize quickly and are relatively reliable producers.
Blue Oyster (Pleurotus ostreatus) is a fast substrate colonizer with a strong bluish-gray hue. It produces richly umami mushrooms with a soft, meaty texture that pairs well with most dishes. Oysters are very reliable producers and tend to yield large flushes of mushrooms. They are also one of the easiest blocks to get subsequent fruitings from and should reliably produce a second flush or more.

These adhesive filters are made from 100% recycled filter material and sized to fit over 2" holes on monotubs. Use these in place of polyfill to keep out foreign spores and other contaminants while maintaining humidity and air exchange. Each sheet contains 6 filters. (Use on 2" holes found on the lid of the monotub.)

This latex-free, hypoallergenic paper tape adheres well and leaves minimal adhesive residue upon removal. It's designed to keep humidity in and allow for proper air exchange, and its black color will make it nearly invisible to the eye one applied. Each roll measures 10 yards. (Use on small holes around the base of the monotub.)

Amazing!
Love using the product. Makes cleanup easier that filling the monotub w/ grain and substrate. Both bags are successful. Moisture is key to the process!

Gifting Success!
My father enjoys gardening (hydro/aqua-ponics), beekeeping, and backyard chickens. But somehow he has never tried his hand at cultivating mushrooms at home. So this made the perfect gift to introduce him to the joys of mushrooming. The included blue oyster and lion's mane grow blocks were an immediate success and now he is hooked. If you know anyone looking to get their feet wet in this hobby... I'd definitely recommend this kit as a first purchase. One word of caution - while this kits turned out great (for my father). It is not really intended for a complete beginner. There are not really any step-by-step instructions, to guide you through set-up and tell you what success (or failure) looks like. The instructions assume you already know a thing or two. Luckily, I was able to point him to some of the learning materials (and videos) on this website, and he managed his way through it. Also worth noting: the discounted price of the kit is a real bargain - I don't think he could have purchased or built anything similar for less (and definitely not any easier). I'm hoping that he will follow up by trying some other mushrooms and growth methods. If so, this kit will come in very handy.

First-time grow, success Thanks North Spore!!
Using North Spores' video guides, tips and pointers, I was able to use my monotub kit for an extremely successful, first-time grow! All the components of the kit were super useful and I had zero concerns with the sterility of the substrate and grain bags. I can't wait to receive my other orders to delve deeper into the wonderful world of mushrooms!

Give the Monotub Kit a Try!!!
I painstakingly went back and forth between purchasing the Martha Tent aka BoomRoom and this fruiting block mushroom monotub grow kit. My BoomRoom issue was not interest level, but where to place it in my home. I had a couple of "that may work, with some window jerry-rigging" moments, but ultimately it was going to be a stretch to get the BoomRoom to work properly in my space. I settled on the Monotub solely by being kind of forced to, but so far it has been amazing. First of all, it is smaller than I expected. I know the dimensions were listed online, but once it arrived I was very surprised how small it really was. I got the fruiting block kit, mainly for two reasons, it was on sale and about $50 cheaper than the Boomr Bag and the Wood Lovr kits, and it was an already inoculated kit. So far the results have been great, and I'm talking less than a week into it. The kit came with a great manual which laid out directions depending on the fruiting block you are working with. I had the kit that automatically came with blue oyster and lion's mane, and those kit directions were listed plainly. Both blocks are already starting to grow, and it has been fun for my kids to watch and learn about mushrooms as well! I will say the only thing this kit was missing was a spritzer that comes with spray and grow kits. They all need spritzing, and this would've been a nice touch to include within the relatively expensive kit. Overall a great kit for limited space and novice to intermediate mushroom growing experience.
