Our loose hydrated 'Myco Coco' coco coir was developed for superior mycelial growth and provides optimal pH, moisture retention, even gas exchange, and key trace minerals to your mushroom grow. The first coco coir researched and selected specifically for its mushroom cultivation qualities, Myco Coco can be used as both a casing layer and substrate additive.
Triple-washed and buffered to adjust pH and nutrient levels, Myco Coco creates the ideal air-to-water ratio, making it ideal for cultivating gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. RHP certified to guarantee the highest substrate standards in the industry, it is naturally free of pests and weed seeds.
Myco Coco is made from coconut husks, is biodegradable, and is a 100% renewable resource. It also contains traces of Magnesium and Calcium that contribute to the overall growth of mushrooms.
How to use:
- As a casing layer: Coco coir should only be added to fully-colonized substrate covered in mycelium with well-developed primordia and/or pins beginning to form. Only a thin layer of coco coir (1/4 to 1/2 inch) is necessary.
- In bulk substrate: Combine coco coir with other ingredients to your bulk recipe at the desired quantity. Pasteurize or sterilize after combination.
Pasteurizing:
Coco coir is naturally resistant to bacteria. However, some users prefer to pasteurize it. Should you choose to do so, we recommend steam pasteurization or a water bath at 180 degrees for 1-2 hours. Once pasteurized, squeeze out excess water and allow to dry before use. (Latex gloves recommended.)
Storage:
Coco coir is best stored in a cool, dry place. Because it can easily absorb moisture, we recommend storing in food-grade, air tight containers.

Coir coir
Excellent product! Will be ordering again!
Great stuff!
This was the perfect topper for all the other great stuff. My whole project was a first time attempt and it worked great!
Excellent.
Nuff said.
Great for monotub
Amazing clean casing for monotub
My first time!
Thank you North Spore for your attention to detail and for sharing your knowledge. This is my first grow, I have decided to go with the monotube design, I modified North Spore's concept a little, with automation. Since the environment is now active and controlled, I do not see the need for 4" vent holes. I experimented with several sizes and found 10 1" holes, 3" from bottom works very well. North Spore used positive presser when ventilating, vacuum is more efficient. I bought the 'INK BIRB' Humidity Controller. The INK BIRD has two output ports, one called humidify and the other dehumidify, I plugged the fan into the dehumidify and now have sequenced controlee over both events. In my initial experiments I realized this was necessary for accurate controle, the humidity in my tubs varies by 0.5%, a decent delta. Being a retired Biomedical Electronics Engineer with emphasis on research, I did my part! Finding more information on the North Spore site than all other sites combined. Clearly North Spore has been doing this for quite sometime. Equally, the products North Spore have developed for mushroom production is impressive. I realize this is a hobbies for me, patients and cleanliness must be observed. I will post my results good or bad, if I fail it would be due to oversite, Since I have all bases covered, I do not see a potential for failure but you really never know what the mushrooms are thinking, since I approach this from a professional view, I am confident! I would not have been able to get this far, without help from North Spore, Thank You, Robert Toth
