'Marbled' black king (Pleurotus spp.) -- also called black pearl king -- is a reliable commercial strain that grows some of the heartiest mushrooms with beautiful brown marbled caps and soft stems. When cultivated successfully, you can expect a large harvest of very meaty and delicious mushrooms. This strain is a cross between oyster and king trumpets from Japan. It prefers cooler temperatures and is prone to drying out or stopping growth if humidity is not maintained when the mushrooms are still in their early stages. Yield averages are .75-1.5 lb first flush off of 5 lb supplemented sawdust blocks.
Our liquid culture syringes are ~10ml and come sealed in a plastic sleeve with a sterile 16 gauge needle and alcohol wipe.
About liquid culture:
Liquid culture is mycelium suspended in a nutrient-rich medium. Syringes are beginner-friendly and ideal for those looking for an easy way to inoculate grain bags and jars.
Directions for use:
For best results, refrigerate upon receipt. Syringes should be inserted into a self-healing injection port. Always handle using sterile technique and shake thoroughly before use. We recommended inoculation in either a still air box or flow hood to reduce the possibility of contamination. If you plan to re-use your needle, sterilize before and after each subsequent use.

VERY PLEASED
After injecting a bag of millet with Black Pearl king culture from North Spore. Everything has quickly colonized, and I have a sweet white brick ready to go to substrate! Very happy!
Great culture
Had to wait about a week to inoculate but could see good visible mycelium in syringe. Inoculated a plate, a liquid culture, and a grain spawn bag. All developed very well!
Black king
Culture was clean and is colonizing grain currently. Now I watch impatiently until fruiting shenanigans begin!
Super reliable
I use North Spore liquid cultures for growing on DIY fruiting blocks in a Martha tent, and they’ve all been fantastic. BUT this strain has been the most vigorous all around. Love it! Pics are of flushes from different blocks.
Black King LC
I have just inoculated my grain bags with the Black King, Elm, and Italian. Hopefully I will have more feedback in a couple of weeks
