How to Store North Spore Products
Spray & Grow Kits
Inside your Spray & Grow Kit is a living organism — we recommend activating it upon receipt. If you need to wait, you can store it in the fridge for up to 6 months.
All of the species used in our kits are very vigorous, so after storing for a few weeks they may start growing mushrooms inside the box. This is perfectly fine, though some recipients find it surprising — which is why we have activation and storage recommendations.
Fruiting Block Kits
Fruiting blocks should be used within 1 week of receipt. If you don't plan to use immediately, you can refrigerate for up to 6 months.
Note: Shiitake blocks can only be stored until the block turns dark brown — at that point they must be used.Grain Spawn
If you don't plan to use immediately, you can refrigerate your spawn for up to 4 months.
Only open your spawn bag when you're ready to use it — opening it prematurely increases the risk of mold. It's not ideal to use spawn across more than one inoculation day.

Shroomtek
Kept at room temperature and out of direct sunlight, a Shroomtek All-in-One Grow Bag can be stored for several months before use.
Let your bag sit for 1–2 weeks before injection. This exposes any issues that may have occurred in shipping and prevents wasted spores or culture syringes. If you find your product is compromised, please email us.

Boomr Bag & Wood Lovr
Pre-Poured Agar
Store unused dishes upside down in the refrigerator, and slants upright. Keep them in their original container to prevent contamination. Without a refrigerator, a cold room works as an alternative.
Check for condensation periodically — condensation in plates indicates a heat source is drawing moisture out of the agar and will dry it out quickly. Allow plates to equilibrate to room temperature before use.
Cultures & Syringes
Plate cultures can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 6 months. If stored longer than 4 months, check viability before use.
Liquid cultures can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.
Slant cultures can be stored long-term in cryostorage, or up to a year in the refrigerator.
Note: Pink oyster, almond agaricus, and Pestalotiopsis microspora cultures cannot be refrigerated. Store at room temperature and use within 1 month of receipt.Capsules
Store capsules in their original packaging in a cool, dark place. The expiration date is printed on the bottom of the carton.
Tinctures
Tinctures can be stored at room temperature. The expiration date is printed on the bottle.
